We are delighted to congratulate Lorraine Simpson on reaching the very significant milestone of 10 years service with Thomond Underwriting this month. Considering she only looks 19 it is hard to believe for us all, although in fairness she was very young when she started!

Like a lot of people in this industry, Lorraine did not set out or aspire to a career in insurance but fell into it when a job opening came available after she finished university and she has not looked back since.

We asked Lorraine to give us some insights into what it is like working at Thomond. On her standout memories, Lorraine says it would definitely involve some of the epic Thomond work nights out, but is not willing to divulge any of those details to the World Wide Web!!

When asked what she most enjoys about her job, Lorraine lists “enjoying the banter with my brokers on the phone and of course securing premium which is a great buzz. There is such a great bunch of people working at Thomond; they are guaranteed to make you laugh everyday!”

Lorraine has worked in different roles within the company since she started with us in 2008. She comments, “The company has always been supportive in allowing me the flexibility to move to different roles and I am grateful for this as I think it has helped me to be a better underwriter.”

Lorraine comments that studying for her insurance exams and achieving ACII status is one of her biggest achievements at Thomond along with being awarded the Institute Diploma Shield and later being invited to Lloyds in London for her achievement.

The last word from Lorraine, “I have enjoyed the first 10 years with the company and I hope to go on and have many more years and successes with Thomond.”
